43-Year-Old Man Dies in Rear-End Crash near County Road D2051
MARTIN COUNTY, TX (February 24, 2025) – Monday afternoon, a rear-end collision on State Highway 349 claimed the life of Matthew Castaneda.
Authorities responded to the scene around 4:00 p.m., near County Road D2051 on February 10th.
According to reports, Reyna Gonzalo was driving a 2017 Freightliner truck with a trailer. Meanwhile, Castaneda was driving a 2020 Nissan pickup-truck, and attempted to turn left onto CR D2051 when he rear-ended the Freightliner.
Due to the impact of the crash, medics pronounced 43-year-old Castaneda deceased at the scene.
Meanwhile, 64-year-old Gonzalo remained uninjured.
Emergency personnel shut down the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
