Woman Killed, Adrian Rodriguez Chavira Injured in Solo-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 5 [Fresno County, CA]
Female Passenger Pronounced Dead after Single-Car Collision near Highway 41
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (February 20, 2025) – Sunday morning, a single-car accident on Interstate 5 left a woman dead and Adrian Rodriguez Chavira injured.
Shortly before 1:00 a.m., police officers responded to the scene just south of Highway 41 outside Kettleman City.
California Highway Patrol officers learned that the driver of a 2019 Honda Accord lost control and went off the highway.
Subsequently, the car crashed into a concrete divider canal wall before landing in the California Aqueduct.
Police said the driver, identified as Adrian Rodriguez Chavira of Chula Vista, managed to exit the vehicle. Medics say Chavira suffered only minor injuries from the crash.
However, his female passenger was unable to escape the sinking vehicle on time. The responding dive team recovered her body and took her to the Kings County Coroner’s Office.
Officials only identified the deceased victim as a 24-year-old woman from Tijuana, Mexico.
The CHP does not suspect drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the fatal single-car collision.
