One Pronounced Dead after SUV Vs. Pedestrian Collision near Chestnut Street

SANTA ROSA, CA (February 19, 2025) – Tuesday evening, one person was fatally struck in a pedestrian crash on Hopper Avenue. 

Authorities responded to the scene around 6:56 p.m., at the 1100 block of Hopper Avenue near Chestnut Street. 

Upon arrival, officers learned that a maroon Chevrolet Suburban hit the victim for reasons unknown. The Chevrolet driver then exited his vehicle and contacted emergency services.

Responding medical personnel transported the pedestrian to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. His identity remains undisclosed to the public at this time. 

According to the Santa Rosa Police Department, the Chevrolet driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. 

Following the incident, authorities also arrested two people near the scene of the initial pedestrian crash for DUI. One of the suspects is said to have struck a patrol vehicle on Hopper Avenue.
