One Dead, Two Hospitalized after Multi-Vehicle Collision near Valley Vista Boulevard Exit

SHERMAN OAKS, CA (February 18, 2025) – Tuesday morning, one person was killed and two were hurt in a wrong-way crash on the 405 Freeway. 

California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene around 4:06 a.m., along the southbound lanes of the freeway, near the Valley Vista Boulevard exit. 

Based on the initial investigation, a driver traveling in the wrong direction collided with several other vehicles. 

In total, three to five were involved in the incident. However, the cause of the multi-vehicle collision remains under investigation. 

Responding emergency personnel pronounced one person dead at the scene. Meanwhile, two others were rushed to a hospital where they remained in critical condition. 

According to LAFD spokesman Mark McLean, another person was released on scene after declining further medical treatment. 

The Sherman Oaks Officials closed all the southbound lanes of 405 as crews cleared the scene. More details surrounding the fatal 405 Freeway wrong-way crash will be available after the investigation.
