31-Year-Old Man Fatally Injured in Pedestrian Crash near Lake Hughes Road

CASTAIC, CA (February 18, 2025) – Tuesday evening, Gabriel DeJesus was killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on 5 Freeway. 

Authorities responded to the northbound lanes of the freeway near Lake Hughes Road around 8:10 p.m.

Responding officers say the driver of a 2014 to 2019 Toyota Corolla hit a pedestrian crossing the lanes on foot.

Investigators claimed the suspect continued driving northbound along the freeway after the crash.

Responding medical personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department declared the victim dead at the scene. Officials later identified the deceased victim as 31-year-old DeJesus.

Authorities are asking those who witnessed the fatal Golden State (5) Freeway to contact local officers as soon as possible.
