28-Year-Old Motorcyclist Hospitalized after DUI Collision near South Hill Mall

PUYALLUP, WA (January 20, 2025) – Sunday night, David Ware suffered an amputated leg after a DUI motorcycle crash on 39th Avenue Southwest.

Officers received calls around 6:00 p.m., near South Mill Hall on January 5th.

According to reports, 28-year-old Ware was riding his motorcycle in the eastbound lanes while a pickup-truck driven by a 72-year-old man was traveling on 7th Street Southwest.

The pickup-truck then entered the intersection without yielding to Ware and struck him. A good Samaritan saw the collision and immediately went to Ware and called emergency responders.

Consequently, paramedics transported him to St. Joseph Medical Center. Due to the severity of his injuries, medics later transferred Ware to Harborview Medical Center.

Ware’s mother, LeAnn Rosencrans, was advised that his leg needed to be amputated.

Meanwhile, crews evaluated the driver and determined that he was intoxicated. As a result, police arrested him on suspicion of DUI.

In addition, the loved ones of Ware set up a GoFundMe page to help with costs during this time.
