26-Year-Old Driver Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision near North Sarival Avenue
SURPRISE, AZ (December 16, 2024) – Late Monday evening, Angel Salas Celaya was fatally injured in a 2-car accident on West Waddell Road.
Arizona Police Officers responded to the scene around 11:30 p.m., near North Sarival Avenue on December 9th.
Investigators say Celaya was driving a vehicle west on Waddell Road without head-lights or tail-lights on. As a result, Celaya struck a silver vehicle that was attempting to make a turn onto Sarival Road.
Paramedics arrived and transported 26-year-old Celaya to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite life-saving efforts, medics later pronounced him dead.
Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle suffered non life-threatening injuries.
Following preliminary duties, speed and impairment were suspected as factors in the crash, and further investigation is still ongoing.
