25-Year-Old Woman and 2-Month-Old Child Killed in 2-Car Crash on Lower Buckeye Road
PHOENIX, AZ (November 1, 2024) – Friday afternoon, Kristina Lara and Josiah Lara were killed in a multi-vehicle collision on 19th Avenue.
Authorities responded to the scene around 1:20 p.m., near Lower Buckeye Road on October 25th.
According to Phoenix Police officers, the 23-year-old male driver of a silver sedan was traveling recklessly while heading south on 19th Avenue. Crews say that the sedan was also occupied by Kristina, Josiah, and three other children.
Shortly after, the 75-year-old male driver of a northbound black pickup-truck was preparing to make a turn onto Lower Buckeye Road and collided with the sedan.
As a result, Kristina and Josiah suffered critical injuries and the three other children sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Due to the extent of their condition, medics later pronounced 25-year-old Kristina and 2-month-old Josiah dead at a nearby hospital.
In addition, the driver of the pickup-truck remained uninjured.
Following preliminary duties, investigators determined that the children were not wearing any seat belts at the time. Charges are currently pending, and the crash remains under investigation.
