Joseph Rangel Dies in Mini-Motorcycle Crash on Olympic Boulevard [Los Angeles, CA]
15-Year-Old Boy Dead after Mini-Motorcycle Accident near Arapahoe Street
LOS ANGELES, CA (October 30, 2024) – Early Monday morning, Joseph Rangel was killed in a mini-motorcycle crash on Olympic Boulevard.
Police officers responded to calls around 1:45 a.m., in the area of Olympic Boulevard and Arapahoe Street.
Based on the police report, a boy riding a northbound motorized “pocket bike” lost control and slid across the intersection. As a result, an eastbound vehicle hit the male juvenile, leaving the boy with fatal injuries.
Police said the driver of the eastbound vehicle did not render aid to the boy and fled the scene immediately.
Responding officers declared the boy riding the motorized bike dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner later identified the deceased victim as 15-year-old Joseph Rangel.
At this time, the city of Los Angeles is offering a reward of up to $50,000 to anyone who can lead the police to the arrest of the suspect.
The LAPD is asking those who witnessed the Olympic Boulevard hit-and-run to call the LAPD West Traffic Division at 213-473-0234. Once available, more information will be provided.
