Five Fatalities Reported after Two-Vehicle Collision near County Road 4165

FANNIN COUNTY, TX (November 1, 2024) – Monday, Chiranjeevi Rajaneni, Gopi Thirumuru, Haritha Degapui, Danielha Rodriguez, and Maria del Carmen Santiz-Lopez died in a crash.

The incident occurred on State Highway 121 near County Road 4165 around 6:45 p.m., on October 15th.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Rajaneni with passengers 30-year-old Thirumuru, 27-year-old Degapui, 30-year-old Saisuhas Reddy, and another vehicle driven by Rodriguez with 64-year-old Santiz-Lopez as a passenger, were involved in the crash.

Investigators say Rajaneni attempted to pass a no-passing zone in the southbound lanes. Consequently, the wrong-way vehicle collided head-on with Rodriguez, who was heading north.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, Rajaneni, Thirumuru, Degapui, Rodriguez, and Santiz-Lopez were all declared dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, Reddy suffered critical injuries, and responding paramedics transported Reddy to the Medical City Plano.

Additionally, a fire broke out from the collision. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
