One Dead, Another Hospitalized after Two-Vehicle Dump-Truck Crash near Salt Slough
MERCED COUNTY, CA (October 18, 2024) – Friday morning, Davood Khodyseporgh was hospitalized after a fatal head-on crash on Highway 165.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene around 7:00 a.m., Salt Slough.
Per reports, the driver of a northbound Honda veered into the southbound lanes to pass vehicles ahead. There, the Honda collided head-on with a dump truck traveling in the opposite direction.
The crash caused the Honda to catch on fire, leaving the driver with fatal injuries. Responding personnel from the California Department of Fire declared the Honda driver dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the dump truck driver, identified as 37-year-old Davood Khodyseporgh was transported to Emanuel Hospital in Turlock for minor injuries.
The coroner’s office will provide the identity of the deceased Honda driver once available.
Emergency crews also shut down the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.
