Two Pronounced Dead after Fiery Multi-Car Crash near US Highway 60

MESA, AZ (October 7, 2024) – Friday morning, David Ortiz De Jesus and Yesenia Morales De Castillo died in a car crash on Country Club Drive.

Authorities responded to the scene around 7:30 a.m., just south of US Highway 60 on September 27th.

Reports indicate that 39-year-old Brett Quadlin was driving a white Ford pickup-truck at high rates of speed and rear-ended a vehicle, pushing that car into another.

First responders located a red car, an SUV, a pool cleaning truck and the white Ford upon arrival.

Medical personnel arrived and pronounced 48-year-old De Jesus and 46-year-old De Castillo dead at the scene.

Additionally, paramedics transported the SUV driver and Quadlin to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Following preliminary duties, officers determined that Quadlin was impaired at the time of the crash. As a result, authorities arrested Quadlin and charged him with manslaughter, endangerment, aggravated assault, and hit-and-run.
