65-Year-Old Female Bicyclist Dies in Two-Vehicle Collision near Norwalk Boulevard
LAKEWOOD, CA (October 8, 2024) – Friday morning, Tami Hayworth was fatally struck in a bicycle accident on East Del Amo Boulevard.
Authorities responded to the scene around 8:30 a.m., near Norwalk Boulevard.
According to the Lakewood Sheriff’s Department, a Honda sedan ran through a red light and collided with a school bus.
Investigators said the school bus was attempting to make a left turn onto Norwalk Boulevard prior to the crash.
The initial collision caused the Honda to hit a woman on a bicycle who was stationary at the time, leaving her with fatal injuries.
On Saturday, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified the deceased bicyclist as 65-year-old Tami Hayworth.
Meanwhile, the bus driver was taken to a hospital after showing symptoms of anxiety. Police later said there were no other occupants inside the school bus.
It was unclear whether the Honda driver was injured or charged for the incident. The LAPD has made no arrests at this time. Once available, further details will be provided.
