One Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle Collision near West Street

OCEANSIDE, CA (October 8, 2024) – Saturday afternoon, one rider was killed and one was injured in a motorcycle accident on Coast Highway.

Authorities responded to the scene shortly before 2:00 p.m., near West Street after receiving multiple dispatch calls.

Police officers say the rider of a motorcycle rear-ended another motorcyclist while traveling in a group of six. 

Police claimed that one of the riders slowed down after spotting a vehicle preparing to make a left turn. However, another motorcyclist traveling closely behind the rider failed to stop and hit the first rider in the back. 

The impact of the crash sent the two riders on the oncoming southbound lanes where they were struck by a Toyota Yarris. 

Responding EMTs transported one of the two motorcyclists to a nearby hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. Meanwhile, the other rider was treated at the scene for minor injuries. 

No other injuries were reported from the collision. The identity of the deceased victim remains undisclosed to the public.
