18-Year-Old Woman Killed, Driver Arrested after Single-Vehicle Crash near Union Avenue

SAN JOSE, CA (September 25, 2024) – Late Friday night, Paulina Verduzco Mendoza was killed in a solo-car accident on Camden Avenue. 

Authorities responded to the scene around 11:55 p.m., at the 14900 block of Camden Avenue near Union Avenue. 

Based on the initial investigation, a white 2006 Ford pickup-truck was doing donuts in a parking lot. The front female passenger then fell out of the vehicle onto the ground, where she was hit by the truck.

Afterward, the driver rushed the female passenger to an area hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner later identified the female victim as 18-year-old Mendoza, of Gilroy.

Following the incident, officers identified and arrested the driver before booking them into the Santa Clara County Jail for felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
