47-Year-Old Elverta Woman Pronounced Dead after Wrong-Way Collision near McGowan Parkway Off-Ramp
YUBA COUNTY, CA (September 5, 2024) – Monday, Dorcas Gramajo-Cabrera and Athena Black were hurt, and Alannah Eastern was arrested after a crash.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene around 5:30 a.m., on the southbound lanes of Highway 70 near the McGowen off-ramp.
Investigators say the driver of a northbound white Buick sedan veered into the oncoming lanes. As a result, the Buick collided with a silver Toyota SUV.
Responding medical personnel declared the Toyota driver dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics rushed her passenger, 28-year-old Gramajo-Cabrera of Marysville, to a hospital for treatment of significant injuries.
The driver of the Buick – identified as 19-year-old Alannah Eastern of Elk Grove – was arrested for felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.
Paramedics also rushed Eastern and her 19-year-old passenger, Athena Hernandez Black of Elverta, to hospital with serious injuries.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the wrong-way crash.
