81-Year-Old Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Collision near Deer Park Road
ST. HELENA, CA (August 14, 2024) – Jackie Rhodes died Sunday, and Dominic Carvalho was arrested after a hit-and-run crash on Main Street.
The incident happened around 10:00 a.m., in the 2800 block of Main Street near Deer Park Road on August 4th.
Investigators report that Rhodes was walking north in the bicycle lane at the time. There, 43-year-old Carvalho was driving a vehicle and struck her, throwing her into a ditch.
Nearby witnesses located 81-year-old Rhodes, of Napa who was conscious and rushed her to Queen of the Valley Hospital. However, she later passed away.
Following a thorough investigation, authorities arrested Carvalho, a resident of Yountville, on suspicion of multiple felonies including felony hit-and-run resulting in death or injury. Authorities set his bail at $100,000.
