20-Year-Old Marine Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle Vs. Sedan Collision near North River Road
OCEANSIDE, CA (July 25, 2024) – Sunday evening, Xander Allen Thorstad was fatally struck in a motorcycle crash on Douglas Drive.
Dispatchers received calls around 7:50 p.m., near North River Road.
According to reports, the driver of a Volkswagen sedan made a left turn onto northbound Douglas and hit the right front fender of a southbound motorcycle.
The impact of the crash ejected the rider from his motorcycle, leaving him with fatal injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, paramedics pronounced the male motorcyclist dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the 64-year-old woman from Carlsbad driving the Volkswagen was uninjured. Officers say she remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the deceased rider as 20-year-old Marine Xander Allen Thorstad.
