Man Dies in Bicycle Collision on State Route 67 [Lakeside, CA]
52-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Vs. SUV Crash near Mapleview Street
LAKESIDE, CA (July 10, 2024) – Friday afternoon, one man was killed in an auto vs bicycle collision on State Route 67.
Around 3:45 p.m., police officers responded to the southbound lanes of the freeway just north of Mapleview Street.
Per reports, a man riding a bicycle west across the southbound lanes collided with a silver 2021 Chevrolet Trax. California Highway Patrol officers claimed the Chevrolet driver failed to avoid the bicyclist on time.
First responders declared the 52-year-old man on the bicycle dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the Chevy driver did not sustain any injuries from the incident.
Police do not suspect alcohol or drugs to be a factor in the collision. Lakeside Officials are asking those who witnessed the fatal crash to contact local officers as soon as possible.
