29-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after SUV Collision near Kiowa Road

APPLE VALLEY, CA (July 3, 2024) – Saturday afternoon, Daniel Stuardo Perez was killed in a deputy-vehicle crash on Bear Valley Road.

The incident happened around 4:00 p.m., just west of Kiowa Road. 

Based on the initial investigation, a deputy responding to a priority call collided with an eastbound Toyota Corolla. Officials say the deputy was going westbound on Bear Valley Road with activated lights and sirens. 

Despite life-saving efforts, first responders pronounced the driver of the Toyota dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the deputy driving the patrol vehicle was treated for minor injuries. 

The San Bernardino County coroner’s office later identified the deceased Toyota driver as 29-year-old Perez, of Apple Valley. 

In the end, officials closed the Bear Valley Road between Kiowa Road and Snapping Turtle as crews cleared the scene.
