57-Year-Old Rider Pronounced Dead after 2-Vehicle Collision near Sunset Road

SKAGIT COUNTY, WA (July 1st, 2024) – Sunday afternoon, Freddy Blondel was killed in a motorcycle accident on Chuckanut Drive.

Around 2:20 p.m., first responders arrived to the scene near Sunset Road on June 23rd.

Per reports, the 70-year-old female driver of a 2016 Honda CR-V was heading north on Chuckanut Drive and attempted to make a left turn onto Sunset Road.

There, she turned in front of a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle that was heading south.

Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced the rider, 57-year-old Blondel, dead at the scene.

Moreover, authorities stated that failure to yield right-of-way was the primary factor of the collision. Lanes were also blocked during the length of the incident. Further investigation remains ongoing.
