53-Year-Old Mother and 16-Year-Old Son Pronounced Dead after Police-Vehicle Crash near Texas Parkway

MISSOURI CITY, TX (July 1st, 2024) – Thursday night, Angela Stewart and Mason Stewart died in a police-vehicle collision on Cartwright Road.

Police officers responded to the scene at the 1600 block of Cartwright Road around 8:45 p.m., near Texas Parkway on June 20th.

According to the Missouri City Police Department, the police vehicle was speeding east responding to a reported robbery-call at an ATM in a shopping center.

The police car then struck a 2005 Toyota Corolla who was exiting a private driveway.

Wreckage from the incident extended 300 feet from the scene. Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the Toyota driver, 16-year-old Mason, and his mother, 53-year-old Angela deceased.

The father of the family, Rodney Stewart, tracked their location after noticing that they had not returned from the store. Upon arrival to the scene, Rodney identified his wife and son who just turned 16 that day.

Meanwhile, paramedics took the police officer to Medical Center for further treatment of minor injuries.

A man in the backseat of the police vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries but required surgery. He was taken to Ben Taub Hospital. It was unknown why the man was in the backseat of the police vehicle.

Further investigation about the crash is being handled by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
