Areauna Laws Killed in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Interstate 20 [Arlington, TX]
21-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Accident near Matlock Road
ARLINGTON, TX (July 1st, 2024) – Early Sunday morning, Areauna Laws died in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 20.
The incident occurred around 5:00 a.m., on the westbound lanes of the freeway near Matlock Road on June 23rd.
Responding troopers found 21-year-old Laws lying on the roadway with no signs of life.
Investigators say the driver of a 1975 Chevrolet Cheyenne was traveling recklessly and struck Laws who was standing outside of her car. The driver then crossed over the median and exited the vehicle, leaving it in a shopping center parking lot on Arbrook Boulevard.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced Laws deceased.
At this time, the suspect remains at large. An active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway. Once available, more details will be provided.
