44-Year-Old Woman Dead after Two-Vehicle Crash near Sawmill Road

BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 27th, 2024) – Tuesday, a head-on collision on Highway 155 left a female driver dead and Victoria Gomez hospitalized.

The incident occurred around 10:15 p.m., near Sawmill Road just south of Wofford Heights.

California Highway Patrol officers say a 44-year-old woman was driving a Toyota Prius west, and crossed into eastbound lanes for reasons unknown.

As a result, the Toyota collided head-on with an oncoming Chevrolet Impala.  

Responding medical personnel declared the 44-year-old Bakersfield woman driving the Prius dead at the scene. 

Meanwhile, the 34-year-old Impala driver, identified as Victoria Gomez of Bakersfield was transported to Kern Medical for significant injuries 

Emergency crews shut down the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.

At this time, the authorities are working to determine whether drugs or alcohol contributed to fatal head-on crash. Once available, more details will be provided.
