Man Dead, Woman Hospitalized after Two-Vehicle Crash on Cecil Avenue [Bakersfield, CA]
20-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after 2-Car Accident on Famoso Porterville Highway
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 24, 2024) – Early Friday morning, one man was killed and a woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Cecil Avenue.
First responders arrived to the scene just after 3:00 a.m., near Famoso Porterville Highway on June 21st.
Police say the driver of a Toyota was heading east on Cecil Avenue, approaching the intersection. Meanwhile, the driver of a Honda was heading south on Famoso Porterville.
For reasons under investigation, the Toyota traveled recklessly through the intersection, disregarding the red-light. The Toyota then attempted to turn onto northbound Famoso Porterville Highway, and the two vehicles collided.
Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced the 20-year-old male driver of the Toyota dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported the 23-year-old woman driving the Honda to Kern Medical for further treatment.
Following preliminary duties, police officers suspected alcohol as a potential factor.
