Miguel Bernardino Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle Accident on Interstate 580 [Livermore, CA]
27-Year-Old Man Fatally Injured in Big Rig Vs. Motorcycle Collision near North Livermore Avenue
LIVERMORE, CA (June 20, 2024) – Thursday morning, a motorcycle crash on Interstate 580 took the life of Miguel Bernardino.
The incident occurred around 5:40 a.m., on the westbound lanes of the freeway just west of North Livermore Avenue.
Investigators say the rider of a motorcycle attempted to pass between a sedan and semi-truck in the area. The motorcyclist then clipped the big-rig, ejecting the rider onto the road directly in front of the truck.
The semi-truck then ran over the rider. Medical personnel arrived and pronounced 27-year-old Bernardino, of Merced deceased at the scene.
Police said the driver of the big-rig remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. California Highway Patrol officers closed all the westbound lanes around 6:00 a.m. as crews cleared the scene.
At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway. Livermore officials will provide more information about the Interstate 580 motorcycle crash once available.
