Three Victims Hospitalized after Rear-End Accident near 98th Street

LUBBOCK, TX (June 20, 2024) – Late Thursday evening, three victims sustained injuries in a rear-end collision on Highway 87.

The Lubbock Police Department responded to the scene around 10:30 p.m., near 98th Street on June 6th.

Troopers learned that a Chevrolet Tahoe was carrying a trailer with furniture and a passenger vehicle was following behind in the southbound lanes of Highway 87.

The two vehicles then stopped and three occupants went out to secure the furniture.

Shortly after, the driver of a southbound Chevrolet pickup-truck was traveling at high rates of speed and rear-ended the passenger vehicle, where it caused a chain reaction.

As a result, the three occupants suffered serious injuries and a woman inside the passenger vehicle sustained moderate wounds. Paramedics transported three victims to UMC for treatment.

Meanwhile, crews treated the pickup-truck driver at the scene. No additional information was added by the authorities, and the crash remains under investigation.
