Josie Rivera and Carla Glines Killed in Multi-Car Crash on State Route 80 [Tucson, AZ]
Two Women Pronounced Dead after 3-Vehicle Collision near Milepost 344
TUCSON, AZ (June 17, 2024) – Thursday afternoon, Josie Rivera and Carla Gines were killed in a multi-car crash on State Route 80.
Authorities responded to the scene near mile post 344 and Bisbee, on June 13th.
Officers say the driver of a westbound Kia Optima veered into oncoming lanes. The Kia then traveled across the eastbound lanes before striking a guard rail.
The Kia then swerved back into the roadway and collided head-on with a Chevrolet Silverado pickup-truck. In addition, the Kia struck a nearby Toyota Camry.
Medics pronounced two passengers inside the Kia dead at the scene. Authorities later identified the victims as 82-year-old Rivera, and 68-year-old Glines, both from Benson.
Meanwhile, the 45-year-old driver of the Optima sustained critical injuries and may face charges. In addition, the drivers of the Silverado and Camry suffered minor injuries.
Law enforcement has not disclosed any further details about the crash to the public at this time; however, they will do so once they obtain more information. Currently, authorities are actively gathering additional information regarding the multi-car crash on SR-80.
