Two Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision near East North Avenue

FRESNO COUNTY, CA (May 23, 2024) – Thursday afternoon, Lizbeth Sanchez and Santiago Ceja were killed in a 2-car accident on De Wolf Avenue.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene 2:10 p.m., near East North Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers learned that the driver of an eastbound Chevrolet Silverado lost control of their vehicle for unknown reasons. 

The Silverado then collided with a red Mitsubishi approaching the intersection. It was unclear if the rider of the Mitsubishi stopped at the posted sign before proceeding to the intersection. 

Responding medical personnel declared two victims dead at the scene. Authorities later identified them as 30-year-old Sanchez and 38-year-old Ceja. Investigators say they were in the same vehicle. 

At this time, police are working to determine whether intoxication played a role in the incident. The Fresno County Officials will provide more information about the fatal De Wolf Avenue two-vehicle crash once available.
