57-Year-Old Cyclist Fatally Struck in Bicycle Collision near Planz Road
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 3, 2024) – Friday evening, Leonardo Torres was killed in a bicycle accident on Wible Road.
The incident occurred around 6:58 p.m., near Planz Road on April 26th.
For reasons under investigation, the driver of a northbound semi-truck hit a bicyclist that was heading west on Planz Road.
The impact caused life-threatening injuries to the cyclist. Responding officers declared the male bicyclist dead at the scene. The Kern County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as 57-year-old Torres, of Bakersfield.
Authorities claimed that the semi-truck driver initially left the scene. However, the driver eventually returned after a witness notified him about the collision. Officials are asking those who witnessed the fatal Wible Road bicycle accident to contact the BPD at 661-327-7111.
