Male Driver Pronounced Dead after Red- Light Collision near Indian School Road
ALBUQUERQUE, NM (May 3, 2024) – Friday morning, one man was fatally injured in a three-vehicle red-light crash on Tramway Boulevard.
Just before 9:50 a.m., police officers responded to the scene near Indian School Road on April 19th.
Investigators say the driver of a red Volvo was heading south on Tramway at a high rate of speed. The Volvo eventually entered the intersection through a red light at the intersection.
As a result, the Volvo struck a Ford that was waiting to turn onto Indian School Road. The impact pushed both vehicles into the side of a nearby box-truck.
Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced the male driver of the Volvo dead at the scene. Investigators believe he suffered a medical emergency prior to the incident.
Meanwhile, a female passenger and the driver of the Ford suffered serious injuries. Paramedics transported them both to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
During clearing operations, troopers blocked Tramway Boulevard between Lomas Boulevard and Indian School Road for a brief time. Once available, more details will be provided about the fatal red-light crash on Tramway Boulevard.
Our warm and sincerest sympathies go out to the friends and family of the deceased man.
