80-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Big-Rig Collision near Bryson

WICHITA FALLS, TX (April 1, 2024) – Friday morning, Tommy Bates was fatally injured in a semi-truck accident on US 380.

The incident happened just before 8:00 a.m., at US 380 on March 22nd.

Officers report that the driver of a semi-truck began backing up unsafely while crossing into the eastbound lane. Bates, driving an eastbound pickup-truck, struck the semi-truck as a result.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medical personnel later pronounced 80-year-old Bates, of Graham dead at the scene.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.
