21-Year-Old DUI Driver Arrested, Man Dead after DUI Crash near Southeast Devonshire Place
PORT ORCHARD, WA (March 13, 2024) – Tuesday evening, Baylijo Williams was arrested after a fatal DUI collision on Jackson Avenue Southeast.
Authorities responded to the scene around 9:30 p.m., just north of Southeast Devonshire Place on March 5th.
Officers say 21-year-old Williams was driving a Chevrolet Camaro with three teenage passengers. For reasons under investigation, the Chevy eventually rear-ended a Toyota Sedan while traveling at high speeds.
Upon impact, the Toyota veered off the road and slammed into a tree. Medics arrived and pronounced one male occupant dead at the scene. Meanwhile, three other occupants from the Toyota sustained serious injuries.
Paramedics transported the injured victims to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment. Crews also took multiple passengers from inside the Chevy to Tacoma General Hospital. However, one of the passengers fled the scene on foot.
Police evaluated Williams and determined that she was under the influence of alcohol. As a result, officers booked Williams into the Kitsap County Jail where she faces vehicular homicide-DUI and two counts of vehicular assault-DUI.
