Daniel Ramirez Dead, Guadalupe Ramirez Hospitalized after Big-Rig Accident on Singley Road [Loleta, CA]
16-Year-Old Fatally Injured in Semi-Truck Collision near Singley Hill Road
LOLETA, CA (March 12, 2024) – Tuesday night, Daniel Ramirez was killed and Guadalupe Ramirez was hurt in a big-rig accident on Singley Road.
Dispatchers received calls in the area around 7:51 p.m., near Singley Hill Road.
For reasons under investigation, a 2017 Freightliner hauling an unloaded double flatbed trailer collided with a 2001 Nissan Frontier. The impact of the collision caused the Nissan to catch fire, trapping two occupants inside.
Reports said the Freightliner driver, 20-year-old Logan Morais of McKinleyville, managed to extricate one of the passengers of the Nissan with the help of a bystander.
Eventually, medical personnel transported 65-year-old Guadalupe, of Fortuna to St. Joseph’s Hospital with major injuries. However, the other Nissan occupant – identified as 16-year-old Daniel – sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Following preliminary duties, police ruled out intoxication as a potential factor. Investigators claimed that seating positions and weather impairment contributed to the crash.
At this time, the CHP is asking anyone with additional information regarding the fatal crash to contact (707) 822–5981. Once available, further details will be provided.
