34-Year-Old Passenger Pronounced Dead after SUV Collision near Farm-to-Market Road 755
RIO GRANDE CITY, TX (March 13, 2024) – Tuesday afternoon, Michael Villanueva was killed in a rear-end crash on Embassy Street.
Dispatchers received calls in the area around 2:00 p.m., near Farm-to-Market Road 755 on February 27th.
For reasons under investigation, the driver of a 2011 GMC Sierra was heading north and rear-ended a flatbed trailer. Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced 34-year-old Villanueva deceased.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the driver to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Following preliminary duties, officers determined that the driver was distracting at the time of the crash.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, further details will be provided.
