Man Fatally Struck by Multiple Vehicles in Pedestrian Crash near 19th Avenue

PHOENIX, AZ (March 12, 2024) – Early Thursday morning, the authorities were called to a pedestrian vs vehicle collision on Interstate 17 that killed a man.

Shortly after midnight, officers responded to the northbound lanes of the freeway near 19th Avenue on February 29th.

According to the troopers, they arrived at the scene and found one man downed on the highway with serious injuries.

Upon investigation, the troopers learned that the man was running in and out of traffic and got struck by multiple vehicles.

Furthermore, at least five vehicles struck the man, and one of them left the scene. Unfortunately, the man did not survive his injuries, and authorities pronounced him dead. His identity was not yet released at this time.

Consequently, the interstate was blocked in the early morning hours, it was later reopened after the scene was cleared. Further investigation is currently underway. Phoenix Authorities will post updates as they are made available to the public.
