27-Year-Old Hemet Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Crash near Georgie Avenue
HEMET, CA (March 4, 2024) – Friday evening, Elder Oswaldo Mazariegos Lopez was killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian collision on Highway 74.
Authorities responded to the scene around 10:00 p.m., just east of Georgie Avenue in Valle Vista.
According to the investigators, the driver of a vehicle hit the victim who was walking in the No. 2 eastbound lane. Two additional drivers also hit the pedestrian, who was pushed into the No. 1 lane.
Paramedics from the Riverside County Fire Department declared the pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities later identified the deceased victim as 27-year-old Lopez, of Hemet.
Police have not released any additional information regarding the suspect of the suspect’s vehicle.
The family of Lopez started to GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses. Officials are asking those who witnessed the fatal hit-and-run to contact the CHP’s San Gorgonio office at 951-846-5300.
