4-Year-Old Child Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Crash near Painted Desert Drive
SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ (March 5, 2024) – Early Friday evening, Mia Preston was fatally struck in a pedestrian accident on Combs Road.
Police officers responded to the scene around 5:15 p.m., near Painted Desert Drive on February 23rd.
Officers say the driver of a vehicle struck the young girl on the road, causing severe injuries. Paramedics arrived and transported 4-year-old Preston to a nearby hospital where she later died.
Meanwhile, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Following preliminary duties, officers did not disclose whether or not the driver will face charges.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.
