7-Year-Old Girl Pronounced Dead after a Bicycle-Auto Collision
TUCSON, AZ (March 4, 2024) – Early Friday evening, the authorities responded to a bicycle crash that killed Leilani Flores.
The tragic incident happened on February 23rd just before 5:30 p.m. in the 1655 block of West Ajo Way near Mission Road.
Upon arriving, the authorities found 7-year-old Flores and another girl down in the area. Flores suffered life-threatening injuries while the other girl sustained minor wounds.
Consequently, the responding authorities rushed both Flores and the other girl to the hospital but sadly, Flores succumbed to her injuries and passed away.
Furthermore, the authorities determined that both girls were riding their bicycles on the wrong side of the highway with no helmets.
Meanwhile, the driver that struck them remained at the scene and he cooperated with the troopers. Speed and impairment were not suspected as a factor in the incident, and further investigation is active.
No words can mend the broken hearts and sorrow felt during this delicate moment. Our deepest condolences and sympathies are with the family and friends of Leilani Flores.
