44-Year-Old Murrieta Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Collision near Baxter Road
MURRIETA, CA (March 5, 2024) – Monday evening, Leny Palma Gaitan was killed in a pedestrian accident on Whitewood Road.
First responders arrived to the scene around 7:29 p.m., near Somer and Baxter Road.
Officers say the drivers of at least three vehicles struck a pedestrian who was walking on the southbound lanes, outside of a marked crosswalk. All three drivers pulled over and waited for police to arrive.
Responding medical personnel transported the pedestrian to Inland Valley Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities later identified the victim as 44-year-old Gaitan, of Murrieta.
Police do not suspect speed or intoxication to be a factor in the incident. Murrieta Officials are asking those who witnessed the fatal pedestrian crash to contact the investigators at 951-200-9368 or plarsen@murrietaca.gov.
