74-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Four-Vehicle Collision near Standard Road

SHAFTER, CA (March 4, 2024) – Tuesday morning, Eric Hoffman was killed in a multi-vehicle collision on Zerker Road.

Authorities responded to the scene around 6:50 a.m., just north of Standard Road.

For reasons under investigation, four vehicles collided in the area. However, the circumstances leading up still remain unclear.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced one victim dead at the scene. Investigators later identified the deceased victim as 74-year-old Hoffman, of Bakersfield.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported two others to a nearby hospital for further treatment. In addition, three others suffered unspecified injuries.

Following preliminary duties, officers do not suspect intoxication to be a factor in the collision. Authorities closed Zerker Road at the intersection of 7th Standard Road and the Garlic Company for investigation.
