Driver and Passenger Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash at The Open Gallery in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, CA (February 28, 2024) – Early Saturday, a DUI crash in a family-owned art gallery led to the arrest of Luis Medinas Amador.
Police responded around 12:30 a.m., at the 1738 block of East 7th Street, near Rose Avenue.
Per reports, the driver of a white BMW rear-ended a Toyota 4Runner, sending both vehicles into The Open Gallery building. Officers say the owner’s 13-year-old son was staying in the loft area connected to the gallery when the crash occurred.
Investigators claimed the SUV narrowly missed the teen inside the building.
Responding medical personnel treated the people inside the SUV for minor injuries. According to officials, no parties inside the building suffered injuries from the crash.
Meanwhile, authorities arrested the sedan driver – identified as 32-year-old Luis Medinas Amador – for felony DUI with bail set at $100,000. The friends and family of the owners of The Open Gallery started a GoFundMe page to help with repairs.
