Driver Hospitalized after School Bus Crash on McKinley Avenue [Fresno, CA]
Three-Vehicle Collision near Hayes Avenue Left One Injured
FRESNO, CA (February 16, 2024) – Tuesday afternoon, a driver was sent to hospital following a school bus crash on McKinley Avenue.
The collision happened around 2:30 p.m. in the area of McKinley and Hayes Avenues.
According to witnesses, a northbound white Honda Pilot on Hayes Avenue slowed down but failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection.
Subsequently, the SUV collided with a Central Unified School District school bus going eastbound on McKinley. The CHP said the bus was occupied by at least 26 students at the time of the crash.
In addition, a Toyota sedan also struck the two vehicles, leaving the Toyota with moderate damage.
Responding emergency personnel transported the Honda driver to Community Regional Medical Center for major injuries.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the children to Central West High at McKinley and Dickenson for medical evaluation. Police said no other people sustained injuries from the crash.
