17-Year-Old Boy Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Crash near Avalon Avenue
YUCCA VALLEY, CA (February 8, 2024) – Friday evening, Joshua Alexander Barreras was killed in a hit-and-run crash on State Route 62.
The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m., just east of Avalon Avenue.
Upon arrival, the deputies discovered the male victim lying unresponsive in the median of the freeway. Evidence from the scene suggests that an unknown vehicle hit the boy and fled the scene.
Paramedics rushed the teenager to Hi-Desert Medical Center where he died from his injuries. The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department later identified the deceased victim as 17-year-old Joshua Alexander Barreras.
