48-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Solo-Car Accident near Thornton

SACRAMENTO, CA (February 7, 2024) – One woman died early Sunday morning, and three were injured in a solo-car collision on New Hope Road.

Dispatchers received calls in the area around 1:10 a.m., near the town of Thornton.

Based on reports, an eastbound 2018 Honda Accord failed to negotiate a turn along the road while traveling at about 50-55 miles per hour. Consequently, the Accord left the roadway before hitting a nearby tree.

First responders pronounced a 48-year-old female passenger dead at the scene. Although, police have not yet released her identity.

Meanwhile, the 54-year-old male driver and his two other passengers, two boys ages 12 and 13, were hospitalized for further treatment.

Following preliminary duties, officers believe impairment played a role. Once available, further details will be provided.
