79-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after SUV vs Sedan Collision near Pine View Way
PETALUMA, CA (February 6, 2024) – Thursday afternoon, a 79-year-old woman was killed in a head-on accident on Highway 116.
The incident occurred around 12:37 p.m., on the eastbound lanes of the freeway near Pine View Way and Frates Road.
Per reports, a sedan collided head-on with a small SUV traveling in the westbound lanes. Emergency responders declared the woman driving the SUV dead at the scene. Petulma Officials only described the deceased driver as a 79-year-old woman.
Meanwhile, paramedics rushed the 29-year-old man driving the sedan to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The impact of the crash also left significant damage to the SUV and the sedan.
Police do not suspect drugs and alcohol to be a factor in the collision. The Sonoma County Coroner’s Office will provide the identity of the deceased victim once available.
