One Pronounced Dead after Multi-Vehicle Collision near Riverbend Avenue

FRESNO COUNTY, CA (February 1, 2023) – Wednesday, Guillermo Contreras was hurt and Samuel Sanchez was involved in a fatal 3-car crash.

The incident occurred around 5:00 a.m., on Manning Avenue near Riverbend and Smith Avenue.

Officers say 25-year-old Sanchez was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee at high rates of speed in the left lane. Meanwhile, the male driver of a Honda Accord was heading east in the oncoming lanes.

Sanchez then quickly veered right and then left again in attempt to pass a Honda Accord, and struck the front-end of the Honda Civic.

As a result, the Jeep struck the center divider and overturned into the oncoming lanes and struck the Honda Accord. Upon impact, the Jeep caught fire.

Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced the unidentified Honda Accord driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, dead at the scene. Meanwhile, Sanchez sustained major wounds and the Civic driver, identified as 24-year-old Contreras, did not sustain any injuries.
