Adamaris Martinez Arrested after Wrong-Way Crash on Paseo del Norte [Albuquerque, NM]
Suspect Arrested after Killing a Passenger in Wrong-Way Collision on Interstate 25
ALBUQUERQUE, NM (February 1, 2024) – Early Sunday morning, police arrested Adamaris Martinez after a deadly wrong-way crash on Interstate 25.
The incident happened just after midnight, January 21st, in the area of Paseo del Norte and southbound Interstate 25 on-ramp.
Investigation showed that a Ford Focus was traveling westbound on Paseo del Norte while a Honda driven by Martinez was driving the wrong way.
Furthermore, the Ford switched lanes to avoid hitting the Honda, but the Martinez also switched lanes. As a result, the two vehicles collided with each other.
Unfortunately, the passenger of the Ford died at the scene, while the drivers of both vehicles suffered injuries. Both of them were transported to the hospital for treatment.
Martinez admitted to drinking multiple alcoholic beverages. The police arrested him with DWI charges resulting in great bodily harm and driving on divided highways.
Further investigation is still ongoing.
