3 Critically Injured in Wrong-Way Collision on Interstate 10 [Tucson, AZ]
Three Hospitalized after Ambulance Crash near Mile Post 256 and Grant Road
TUCSON, AZ (January 30, 2024) – Early Tuesday morning, three occupants sustained injuries in a wrong-way collision on Interstate 10.
Officers responded to the scene around 1:30 a.m., near Mile Post 256 and Grant Road on January 23rd.
Investigators say the driver of a wrong-way vehicle was heading west on the eastbound lanes during a police pursuit. There, the suspect slammed into a marked on-duty AMR ambulance.
Emergency crews arrived and transported the suspect driver and two occupants from inside the ambulance to a hospital for further treatment of serious injuries.
Per reports, both people from inside the ambulance were paramedics. Although, police have not yet released their names or places of residency.
First responders closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, more information will be released about the wrong-way collision on Interstate 10.
