Man and Woman Pronounced Dead after Head-On Crash on Highway 65 [Bakersfield, CA]
Driver and Passenger Fatally Struck in Two-Vehicle Collision near Highway 155
BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 22, 2024) – Early Wednesday evening, two victims were pronounced dead after a head-on crash on Highway 65.
Around 6:45 p.m., police responded to the scene just north of Highway 155.
According to reports, the driver of a northbound Nissan veered into oncoming lanes for reasons unknown. As a result, the wrong-way vehicle collided head-on with a Chevrolet pickup truck.
Upon impact, both vehicles were pushed to the side of the road and overturned. In addition, the pickup-truck caught on fire.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the driver and passenger inside the Nissan dead at the scene. Officials only described the deceased occupants as a 58-year-old woman and a 64-year-old man.
Meanwhile, paramedics airlifted the 44-year-old male driver of the Chevrolet to Kern Medical for further treatment of serious injuries.
Police do not believe that alcohol or drugs were a factor. Once available, further details will be provided about the head-on crash on Highway 65.
